For the second consecutive year BCSSC will be hosting some regular shooting hours that encourage members to join in with others at a specified time slot. Having shooter access to facilities on regular days at regular times makes it easier for members to enjoy the fun. It is a good time to show up to shoot with others that helps with improvement, makes friends, and is great fun. There are often more advanced shooters present that are happy to help newer shooters as well as newer shooters that can pass along what they are learning. BCSSC will be hosting regular Saturday air gun instruction and shooting during the month of July. This event will be open to members and non-members from the ages of 6-12, beginning on Saturday July 3, 2010. Instruction and shotting will begin each Saturday at 9:30am prompltly and last for approximately one and one-half hours, BCSSC will provide instruction, supervision, some air guns, targets and Safety equipment. We are encouraging parents to assist. Please bring an air gun with you if you own one.

Who: Youth Ages 6-12

Where: BCSSC Pistol Range

When: July 3, 10, 17, 24. & 31

Cost: $5 for members and non-members. Please bring air gun if you own one.

Interested in shotgun sports or improving your wing shooting skills? Instruction is being offered at the club’s first class sporting clays and 5-stand facility. We are offering shooting lessons given by the following certified NSCA Level 1 shooting instructors:

Our new 5-stand facility is set up for instruction and is designed to offer the beginning or intermediate shooter a variety of targets that offer the best chance for success and to develop proper shooting fundamentals. It is the perfect venue to learn how to shoot a shotgun and to improve on skills you may already have. It will prepare you to try the more challenging sporting clays course as well as improve your wing shooting for the upcoming fall bird season.

Tuesday night lessons will run for about one and one-half hours in groups of no more than three of similar ability. Space is limited so please call ASAP to reserve a spot. Lessons can also be scheduled for other times.

The sporting clays course is open for regular shooting on Tuesday nights starting about 4:30 pm. Due to our clinics beginning on July 6, the 5-stand will not be open if instruction is scheduled. However on those nights with no instruction scheduled, you may also make use of the 5-stand. There is currently about a half-dozen shooters regularly shooting on Tuesday nights on the sporting clays course, so come on out and enjoy these nice summer evenings.

For the second consecutive BCSSC will be hosting the Blue Creek Invitational skeet and sporting clays crossover shoot. All ability level shooters are encouraged to participate and enjoy the fun!

This shoot is a Skeet shoot structured to support and develop New Shooters & Crossover use of both Sporting Clays and Skeet facilities. Hence, it is geared for great fun for any new beginner, as well as more advanced shooters. Free NSSA (National Skeet Shooting Association) membership is also available to participants ($50 value).

New and/or Sporting Clays and Skeet Crossover shooters can shoot one or both the 12 Ga Skeet (100 targets) and 12 Ga Sporting Clays (100 targets) events. They will be entered into individual skeet and/or sporting clays events, as well as a combined “Crossover” event if they shoot the 200 bird total. Classes are structured so similar experience levels are grouped into various classification levels. Anyone shooting can shoot their birds on either Friday (11 am – 6 pm) or Saturday (8:30 am – 4 pm). Shooters can also use shotgun gauges smaller than 12 Ga if they want. Squadding (shooting times) will be arranged for the skeet fields as you show up (or pre-register / schedule). Clays can be shot at any time and associated prizes will be awarded Saturday evening after regular shooting and some scheduled fun shoot games and prizes.

The shoot is also a regular Skeet shoot with other events that new shooters and Sporting Clays Crossover shooters are welcome to join. These are 100 bird events that include Doubles, 12 , 20 , 28 , and 410 Ga shooting. All the skeet shooters will also be encouraged to “Crossover” and shoot 100 Sporting Clays targets to enjoy and add to the fun. Any shooter can shoot the gauge for that event or a smaller gauge is also allowed if desired. These 100 bird events will also include the registered shooters portion for the Big Sky State Games, which is a Regional Olympic-Style Sports Festival Event. Shooters prior shooting the Big Sky State Games on July 18^th can also shoot this event and are encouraged to do so. Big Sky State Games concurrent events will include Doubles, 12 Ga, HOA (High Over-All; Combination of 12, 20, 28 & 410 gauge events), and HAA (High All-Around; Combination of HOA and Doubles). Placing in the Big Sky State Games qualifies participants for the national games should they wish to participate there. Wayne Mayes is a multi time world skeet shooting champion known at the G.O.A.T (Greatest of All Time). He regularly provides quality skeet instruction clinics and has agreed to be available on 3 separate days August 6 – 8^th (Fri, Sat, & Sun) at BCSSC. The cost of the clinic is $250 (real steal) plus the targets shot during the clinic / instruction. Advanced registration and payment for the clinic is required to hold your spot. There are only 15 spots available and many are already spoken for with deposits so don’t wait if your interested. More information is provided below. Wayne is an affable and patient instructor that gives clinics year round all over the United States, and the United Kingdom as well. He is highly sought after and securing time from him for an instructional clinic at a new club is a rare opportunity indeed. As a skeet instructor he focuses on those aspects of the game. He has won over 40 NSSA (National Skeet Shooting Association) World championships from 1973 through 2009. He has a long ambassadorial history of promoting the game and holding instructional skeet clinics. This includes beginners to advanced shooters that have effectively competed at national and world events. Each day’s clinic will hold 4 or 5 shooters. Each participant gets ample quality time for personalized 1:1 instruction with Wayne and watching others progress during instruction as well. Clinics are from 9 AM until 6 PM with a lunch break on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (August 6-8^th). Shooters routinely shoot 2 flats of shells (20 boxes), so bring 500 rounds if you attend and plan on shooting and learning a lot. What: Due to the setup for our 3_D archery shoot on August 7th, our 3-D course will be closed the day before for setup of the 3-D targets. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause our members. This will not affect the archery sight-in range, that course will remain open and be available on August 6, 2010.

3-D Archery Shoot

2^nd Annual BCSSC - Scheels Fun Shoot

Blue Creek Sport Shooting Complex will be hosting its 2^nd Annual 3-D archery shoot sponsored by Scheels Sport Shops. We will have two rounds of shooting at our Rinehart 3-D targets. Shooting will begin at 9:00am and conclude by 2:00pm. Both rounds must be shot and score cards turned in by 2:00 pm to be eligible for the novelty shoots and prizes to follow. Concessions will be available. This shoot is open to the public. If you were at the shoot last year you are well aware of the fabulous prizes Scheels provided. Don’t miss this event! (No broadheads)

This is an NRA Certified Instruction Course designed to introduce the student to basic handgun safety, use and identification. Live fire is required upon final date(s) of instruction. *Successful completion of the course will allow requirement for Montana CWP application.
